Which Windows Should You Protect First?

You don't have to do every pane in the house. A quick guide to prioritising the glass that matters most.

By The NorthGuard Team

One of the most common questions we get is, 'Do I have to film every window?' The answer is almost always no. Smart protection is about prioritising the glass an intruder is most likely to target — usually the easiest, most private points of entry.

Start at ground level

Ground-floor glass is the priority for an obvious reason: it's reachable. Front-door sidelights, large sliding patio doors, and rear or basement windows hidden from the street are common first targets.

Think about visibility and access

  • Glass beside or in your front door (sidelights and door lites)
  • Sliding patio and balcony doors
  • Rear and side windows screened by fences or landscaping
  • Basement windows out of public view
A good assessment ranks your glass by real-world risk so you can invest where it counts — and skip where it doesn't.
